We had a furnace installed by another company. They were out of the area and would not come to service the unit when it quit working. This was 3 months after it was installed in a new home. We called Aquarius and they sent Lucas out ASAP. Lucas was very diligent in diagnosing the issue and ordered a replacement part immediately. He also dropped off a couple of space heaters to make sure we had heat in case of an emergency (March in MN). We’re very happy with Aquarius and very grateful we have Lucas as our technician.

Do You Have Hard Water?

Treating Hard Water in Little Canada, MN

Do you ever notice soap scum in your bathroom? Specifically near the faucets or in your tub? How about chalky residue on your appliances? When you shower, does your skin feel dry and your hair feel brittle? If so, chances are high that you have hard water in your home. Hard water impacts everything water touches. You’ll find it will:

  • Fade your clothes with every wash
  • Build scaling in your appliances, leading to reduced efficiency and potentially costly repairs
  • Leave stains on your dishes
  • Dry out your hair and skin, stealing its luster
  • And more…

The good news is that you don’t have to live with hard water! With an efficient, whole home water softening solution, you can rediscover the luxury of pure water.

What if I Have Iron in My Water?

Metals like iron can get into your water, causing a host of frustrating problems, some of which will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Typically, iron enters your water through one of two methods: seepage or corrosion.

Seepage happens when rain water or melted snow seeps into the ground’s surface and enters your water supply. However, as water passes through the ground it can pick up different metals and minerals from the soil, including iron, and carry it into your water supply.

Usually found in municipal, city water applications, corrosion is a different problem. If the pipes your water travels through are made of iron, the water and oxygen that travels through them can cause corrosion.

This corrosion leads to rust, which breaks off into your water supply as it travels to your tap. While iron in and of itself is only considered toxic in extremely high doses, it does have a negative effect on your pipes, appliances, fixtures and sinks and tubs, and the quality of your drinking water.

You can taste the metallicness of iron when it’s present in your drinking water. Iron can also lead to:

  • Reducing the quality of food and drinks prepared using iron-rich water, by effecting the taste, smell and color
  • Create red, yellow, or brown stains that are difficult to remove from clothing, dishes, sinks, and tubs
  • Create clogs in appliances and facets as it builds up inside of your pipes, leading to costly repairs

Iron can be removed from your water supply using a water filtration system, like a specially iron removal filter.

Water Softeners in Twin Cities

If you live in the Twin Cities area, then you know that the water is not always the best for drinking.

Recently, we worked with a St. Paul homeowner who was tired of the hard water which was staining the porcelain, clogging faucet screens, and leaving stains on their tub.

They called us and asked if there was any solution for the hard water in their home. We suggested that they install a water softener.

A water softener would make the drinking water clear and healthy again and would reduce the stains on their porcelain and tub as well. We explained that through water conditioning techniques, we would make their water much safer to drink.

After discussing their options for a while the homeowner decided to go with the K5 drinking water system. This is one of the best water softeners around in the Twin Cities, made by Kinetico.

It can produce over 40 gallons of water each day, which is three times the average of other water conditioners. Once the decision had been made we ordered the K5, and when it arrived we returned to the home and took care of their Twin Cities water conditioning system installation.
