What is The Hard Water Bubble Test?
Have you heard about “the hard water bubble test?” It’s only the easiest way to test for hard water in your home from a DIY standpoint! In fact, the only thing easier than performing your own hard water bubble test is calling in the experts instead of doing it yourself — which we recommend doing after the fact anyway, just to be on the safe side. But, in the meantime, here’s all you need to know about testing for hard water in your home on your own time.
What will I need to perform this hard water test?
Setting up for your hard water bubble test is simple. Just grab a clean water bottle, some basic dish soap (we recommend Castile), and of course, your tap water.
How do I perform the hard water test once I’m all set?
Easy! Fill your clean water bottle one-third of the way with cool water from your tap. Then, add in a few drops of your dye-free, fragrance-free, detergent-free soap — and shake!
What results should I see if I perform the hard water test correctly?
After giving your water bottle a good shake, check to see the effects. If you see cloudy or milky water and no fluffy bubbles, you’re looking at a hard water problem. Soft water will yield large, fluffy bubbles and clean, clear water.
So, your bubbles are lackluster, as you had a feeling the would be. Now what?
