What is Reverse Osmosis Water?
You may have heard the term “reverse osmosis” before, but if you’re like most folks, you probably don’t know exactly what it means. No worries — that’s why we’re here!
In short, reverse osmosis water is term used to described water that’s been filtered through a reverse osmosis water conditioning system. Reverse osmosis filtration systems (sometimes referred to as R.O.) are some of the most effective water purification systems you can buy, and according to the experts, our Kinetico reverse osmosis water systems are some of the best available! That leads us to our next question…
What is a Reverse Osmosis System?
By definition (according to our friends at Encyclopedia Britannica), “osmosis is the passage or diffusion of water or other solvents through a semipermeable membrane that blocks the passage of dissolved solutes.” Well, that’s exactly how a reverse osmosis filtration system works!
With osmosis, a lower-concentration solution filters into a higher-concentration one, evening and balancing out the level of solutes in both solutions. With reverse osmosis, the opposite is true. Instead of dispersing solutes evenly from one solution to the other, those solutes are actually removed from one solution entirely with help from applied pressure.
Our Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Stations are powered by reverse osmosis, and are 100% customizable. That way, you can ensure that your R.O. system is filtering out the correct contaminants uniquely present in your home’s water supply. While we have a variety of filtration systems to choose from, the K5 system significantly reduces more contaminants than any other drinking water treatment unit — 99% of contaminants to be exact!
