Just because summer is officially over doesn’t mean we can’t continue to find ways to conserve water. Sure, you may not be washing your car or using the sprinklers anymore, but here are five easy ways to save water this fall:
1. Water Plants Less Often
Now that it’s getting colder outside, outdoor greenery won’t be growing as much.. Plants actually require less water during the autumn season! There is no need to overcompensate for flowers that will be back again in the spring.
2. Keep Your Water Usage Habits in Check
Nothing feels better on a cold day than a hot shower, but we have a tendency to leave the hot water running too long. In order to save water, you must try and break this habit. Keep conservation in mind especially while showering or brushing your teeth.
3. Upgrade Your Toilets
Out of all of your appliances, our toilets are the ones that waste the most water. Older toilets aren’t made to conserve as much water as they can. If you are interested in keeping your water usage to a minimum, consider upgrading your toilet! The newer ones can reduce the amount of water used for each flush.
4. Install Efficient Faucets and Shower Heads
There are many different types of faucets and showerheads that are made specifically for reducing water waste. You can also turn the sink off when not being used, but if you tend to forget this, buying an efficient faucet will help a lot! The showerheads will help if you like to take long showers.
5. Check for Leaks
